I speak for myself, but I'm sure there are many more who feel the same as I do. I really enjoy everyone's stories. A lot are great. But I feel generic just posting "wow that was great" after everyone's story. Forgive my blatant tone, I realize people want to know how they are doing. But I have a hard time expressing how I truely feel.. so I avoid posting at all. A conundrum if you will. But anyone and everyone who posts stories, because I don't post at the end to show my appreciation don't think for a second that I don't. Thanks, and I will always appreciate your hard work. I wish I had the creative ability many of you possess. But I do not. Once again, thanks to everyone!

I am glad to read your post, Cuda. I also usually only comment on items that particularly move me, since I don't want to waste space just saying "me too."
As a story writer, it's not necessarily accolades that I want; I just wish that people, instead of bitching about the supposed lack of new material at my groups, would actually contribute something meaningful instead of just taking, taking, taking and demanding, demanding, demanding all the time. I now have to bribe people to contribute by offering a story contest, with a photo-set prize.
In fact, if certain of our spammers had offered us any on-topic photos or a story (instead of ad after ad after ad), I would not have kicked their asses out of our group -- if only they would have offered something meaningful in return for our carrying their ads! Our rules on advertising are CLEARLY posted for all to see. All we ask is a little something in return.
Luv always,

Eeek!
The wrath of Mistress Valerie is terrible to behold. I will immediately embark on a mission to come up with something (suitable to the venue) of worth. I apologize in advance if some of my more profane quirks sneak into the text.
Anything to sooth the troubled brow of the Asian Goddess of Posts.
Hmm. There’s something in that screed of mine that might serve the Purpose. Of course it will come replete with disclaimers, ensuring that nobody ascribes the actions of any characters found therein to our Cherished Lady.
…crawling back into my cell to scribble madly, obsessively, dementedly.

Exactly... I hardly ever post "thank yous" because I THINK (N.B: I THINK!!!) that they are just generic comments without much meat to them.
wow that was great cuda :moon:

Lol, gee thanks a lot Turbs. :fart:
Val, if I had constructive criticism to give I would. But as it stands when I think of something to add to a story I'll scroll down and someone has already suggested it.
It's also the same reason I don't post pictures. All I have to offer is a bunch of copywrited material that I've leeched from other sites. Unless it's marked on the vid/pic then I have no idea where it came from. If/when I actually make pictures of my own I'll happily post them.
I also don't want to discourage other writers just because they didn't "move me" by posting to some and not to others. But by not posting it discourages all writers. Like I said, a conundrum. I guess I really need to hear from the writers of this forum. Do you get discouraged if one great writer praises someone else's piece but not yours? Does it bother you or help to get the cookie cutter "wow that was great" response? We could start a :lildog: rating system. The better the story the more :lildog: 's it gets. :D Once again that's a subjective system. I've always hated rating anything. But if anybody can offer a suggestion as how I can encourage people without discouraging anyone then I'm more than willing to listen.

Speaking only for myself, I don't ever expect comments when I post a story. I only write when I'm inspired and I post to say thank you to those who have gone before, and I'm always a little surprised when someone does respond. I mean, I'm writing for MY pleasure. 8-) Well, most of the time.
So although this doesn't apply to me, I can understand wanting recognition for the hard work that goes into writing. I don't remember by now who said it up above, but there is NOTHING 'empty' about a simple thank you. Not just here; try it everywhere. A simple, sincere recognition of a simple act goes a long way and it doesn't cost you anything. If you happen to be the first to read a story and you like it, just say so. If you can point out WHY you liked it, you might even get more of the same, hm?

Hi There barracuda426!
It would be nice to get a few words of praise or disdain; at least the writers would know where their going with their efforts.
And the comments don’t have to be grand, just a few words will do! We see that yes indeed, you can convey your feelings very well! ;)

Hi, all, and thanks to everyone who posted here, especially Cyrpent and Groundview, whose comments reflect my feelings exactly. As a writer, I need feedback to let me know how I am doing. An example of perfect feedback is that which is often provided by Kenrug -- he not only says that he likes a story, but he tells exactly why. This feedback is crucial to me.
I did not mean to sound as harsh as I did on my earlier post. I was expressing my exhasperation with people who won't take the time to contribute anything but who are more than happy to send me e-mails complaining about the supposed lack of new material at my (free, member-supported) boards. I have even had people post messages griping about some minor issue such as a blurry photo or a typo in a story. Almost without exception, these complainers never contribute anything themselves, but expect to get lots of free stuff from everyone else.
Obviously, if everyone said "hi" and "thank you," the servers would crash and Yahoo/MSN would be upset with us, lol. All I am asking is that our people please be patient and understand that we can't always have new material every week. Instead of unsubscribing when our boards appear a bit weary, it would be so much more productive (not to mention positive and generous) if those people would add some of their OWN contributions to spice things up.
Nonetheless, I thank everyone who has supported us, especially those who have contributed as well as to all who remain loyal readers and members of our boards.
With love to all, and malice towards none,
barracuda426

Ok folks,
Message understood and in the future I'll try to be more responsive to the work of others. Once again thanks for everyone's hard work in the past that I never responded to!
