View Full Version : Rennoch's and mr.crypt's desert phoenix videos - with jeannie!

first, my jeannie test clip, the one to confirm with luke these are the videos he's saying are missing :)

jeannie_clip.avi (http://www.dumbfiles.com/index.php?page=main&id=800a6754&name=jeannie_clip.avi)

edit:erm - for those having difficulty getting the file to play, it's re-encoded in xvid 1.8.1b with tuerny's wav compression MP3 codec,
the sound should go fine, but the video will likely need the codec.

note: the videos rights are currently held apparently by smother.com, so soon as someone can watermark it, it'll be replaced by the watermark version.

mr.crypt, when you wake up gimme a poke so i can up files for marking - if you know how to watermark of course.

well, I wasn't able to get the video part to work (must be the codec thing you were mentioning) but I'm not worried since I already have that clip as well as most Desert Phoenix, I'm not familiar with breaking apart clips and that though....

google the xvid codec - it's lightning fast to install and surprisingly common.

oh, and don't seek - for some reason seeking in the file causes the image to go screwy, but if you leave it for 3-5 seconds it straightens itself out.

edit: "inthe" is obviously not a word, corrected.

yup, I guess good things do come to those who wait. If you wait 7 or 8 seconds it plays the video as well, my mistake.

Try the single file uploader. It's possible that your connection + site's very high traffic is a problem. The single file uploader works on a different system.

I love this clip because Kelly just ignores him as she sits. Then she crosses her legs... VERY sexy.

another one starring jeannie, this one from "facesitting frenzy", 60seconds, the graphical glitch goes away around 7 seconds.

if anyone can tell me why i'm getting those artefacts, and how to fix them, i'd appreciate it.

edit re-upping, the original link broke.

edit2: hmm, mr.crypt, the file is refusing to complete upload, dumbfiles keeps reporting an upload error.

Guys if you get a white screen(or no screen) at a .avi file you need to google first at .avi-files mediaplayer if you use Windows. Then downlaod the program and fetch! the codec you need.(so not all of the codecs in that file). If this too much of a hassle, look on top of the MDFF forum/clips-pics and check the "tech-tools" topic.

edit: Cool rennoch & crypt, that you guys have started your own clips thread. ;)

Rennoch
12-03-2007, 6:18 AM
ok, i've given up, mr.crypt, the file, in both your uploaders, is reporting a failure to complete, with no explanation beyond "upload failed, try again.

after 30 tries using both systems, it has failed every time. what's going on?

MrCrypt
12-03-2007, 6:43 AM
Not sure. The only thing I can think of is that the server is rejecting your file. I did a little research to see what error 606 is... It's an error that occurs when the client PC can't establish a good connection with the server. I assume that's why I've never heard of it.

Edit: I just tried finding more sources for 606 error. It's not an official error number for any http or web service other than FTP. That leads me to believe you may have a software issue. Have you tried a different browser?

ahm rennoch is right, i too have had for the last 2 hours while trying to upload in advance 2 new simple segment files,.wmv, alot of troubles with Dumbfiles. The double-uploader is out of the question,so the single-uploader is the only possiblity available. Using that also takes ages before it uploads a single file of for example 10 mb. The only way to get some result is alot of patience and cutting-off the upload after +/- 15 minutes if you don't see any improvement. Relauch the page again and try a new upload. Repeat that until you're file is uploaded. That's how it worked for me at this moment.

unfortunately the time limit upload thingy you're saying won't work for my file, because it takes about 8 minutes to try and upload, then reports failure.

Hrmmm... I wonder if our server is acting up. Our host is supposed to switch us over to a new server today. But they didn't tell us when. They could be doing it now.

They're switching us because of the issues we've had over the past few days (error 500 and so on).

It's possible that the server's are rejecting new files because of the transfer. I really wish they would have called or contacted me first. (Or at least started this when traffic was low).

have you given 3-8 seconds or so to correct for the artefacts? it seems a few people who thought it was broken were instead just constantly seeking, which screws up the video segment. let it run for a good quater minute, make sure it's not just a playback artefact issue.

if it's still causing trouble, post a pic of what you are seeing, as "i can't see anything" is non-descriptive - you could be blind for all i know, and there'd be nothing i could do to fix your eyes. :)

lol true

I've just tried it again and I didn't get the error. I WAS getting the sound, but just a black screen for the video...without ever seeking. Seems to be the "Car Noise" scenario; where your car is making this noise all the time, you take it in to the shop and try to show them what you're talking about, and does the car make the noise THEN? Of course not :)

The video looks great, although distorted a bit in terms of viewing ratio?

Jeannie sure was amazing though...

Moffringa1, I tried updating the xvid codec for Quicktime but it appears it is only for macs...I had downloaded 7.2 quicktime before using one of your links to download the next Jeannie clip in this thread, but I had the same problem as I initially had with WMP( sound but no picture)...I figured it must be codec issue( as Rennoch mentioned early on)...as that worked for the first Jeannie test avi using wmp, but not with Quicktime for the jeannie links you provided...any thoughts on what I need to do to find what I am missing with quicktime to play that Jeannie clip?

...I might just wait and see what happens with dumbfiles...hopefully those server issues I was reading about can be resolved..not really an area of expertise for me, but it sounds frustrating. In the meantime if you (or anyone) knows, and when you get a chance, let me know if there is a fix for jeannie clip in Quicktime.

I just checked the DF control panel. Seems that people are still uploading files all day. I'm wondering if this is a limited issue or if this is just bad timing.

It's a shame my host sucks so much about things like this. Inquiries like these are their kryptonite. Getting answers from them always start with "Are you sure your code isn't bad?" And no matter how many times you tell them "It was working for 3 months and then it randomly stopped" they don't understand that code doesn't just up and change itself. LOL!

Yo guys, talking about healthcare; I just saw that movie SICKO and the way the healthcare system in Europe was projected is not really the truth. Yes you do get some free BUT..you get slammed by a higher TAX income. So in the end if you add up and substract you do pay something for healthcare instead of the thought that it is all for free. Infact i do agree that what they are doing in the US is really ridicilous. But,just my 2 cents.

I'd take that ANY day. Keep in mind we do pay a lot for taxes. In fact we get taxed for things we aren't allowed to know about or are mis-represented. Our gov't really has us by the balls. I get taxed 35%+ of my income which is stupid. I won't ever see even 10% of what I'm paying into.

Not to mention that we STILL don't get health care for that. I still have to pay over $200/mo for substandard health care that may or may not be covered in the first place! It really is bullshit. This February I was extremely sick. They performed a "spinal tap" on me and gave me some morphine. The total bill came out to over $1,200 for them to steal my spinal fluids and drug me. They didn't even fix the problem. I had to see another doctor for them to inject me with 3 experimental drugs that finally worked (total cost was again over $1,200) and none of that was covered by any health insurance.

I currently pay into Social Security. I'm 24. I'll NEVER see a dime of what I've paid in. So all that money I paid to SS could have gone to better health care. This country is so fuckin' backwards. I'm surprised we're not in the stone age again.

Well it is all done in Quicktime, decoded from the .avi format. Strange that it is seen as an MP3 format. Maybe you should check the download options regarding that.
