Playing mpg's on DVD

Has anyone had success playing any of the mpg's downloaded from various sites on their DVD players? I just got a DVD that's supposed to play Windows Media Player, but it won't play the clips I downloaded from my membership at Anaconda. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think you are talking about a VCD...video CD, they predate DVD's but the quality was only about as good as vhs and would only fit up to 80 minutes of video on a disk. If you want to watch mpg's or avi's on a dvd play get Instant cd/dvd or (my favorite) Nero burning rom, and you can burn your own VCD's. Good luck
