having more trouble with clips from movietramplescenes2. This time with the file called 'mtvtra' second from bottom. I download it but only 16 seconds is viewed, then the picture freezes up and the clip keeps playing but with no picture. What do i do!!??
Its the one where you see a guy in red lie on a bed of nails and probably get trampled, it stops before you see any good bits!

That's a common problem with yahoo groups for me. The entire file often doesn't download, for some reason it just downloads some of it and then tells me it's completely downloaded.
When I check the total size downloaded to the total size of the file I was actually downloading its often nowhere near. I don't know why though as the group hasn't reached it's limit, I can download other files. Maybe it's just the number of users downloading at once?
With mpegs and Real video I can watch the bit I got but with avi files I can't watch any.
The only thing to try is to clear your browsers cache and try downloading again. BEWARE THOUGH - I've tried this quite a few times and got less than I originally had. When you select a name to save the file give it a different name to the incomplete download then if it comes out complete you can delete the one that doesn't work.
Some times that tip works and sometimes it doesn't.
It's frustrating as not only does it waste time (I only have a 56k modem) but it waste bandwidth which means ultimatly you can download less because the group's limit is reached quicker!

OMG, that is the exact same problem I have been having with Yahoo downloads. I have found that Netscape works better for this than Internet Explorer, and that saving the file before opening is better than trying to just open it from the website. Several other people have mentioned this same phenomenon to me also. Best of luck with it.

Well at least I know I'm not alone now.
Thanks for the tip MistressValerie, though I hate Netscape I'll try using that for the downloads.

I can not determinate precislly what is the cause of the problems.
My connection is 33.6K modem with bandwith that is not all the time the same. I have these problems on many sites.
I suspect that the problem occurs when the connection with server is to low or not existing for predefinied period of time. The download brakes. You can then see only the part of the clip that you downloaded and the last frame you see to the end of the movie (sometimes you have sound and sometimes not). Logical expanation is that yahoo has too bad servers or connections for amount of traffic that they become.
One solution is to use Gozilla (at my opinion the best is version 3.92), or some other download accelerating application that has the capability to resume broken-down download.
The other solution is to delete the part of the file from hard drive and to delete it from recicling bin and then start download aggain.
I am glad if my solutions help someone with it's problems.

I have tried deleting and emptying the cache in IE and Netscape but neither seems to work very well.
Is it just those of us with old fashioned analogue modems or does this also affect DSL users?
It's becoming quite frustrating now!

Hi, SaleB -- where could I find this Gozilla download helper? I have heard of one from www.speedbit.com but it installs adware, so I haven't tried it.
Shoepete -- I use a 56k modem, but in Cambodia my real dl speed is 14.4k. I think it is some kind of a "time out" problem with Yahoo's crappy servers. People I know with DSL usually accomplish the download quickly enough that it isn't a problem.
I recently had the fun of dl-ing a 5MB clip at Yahoo (with Netscape, no less) and having it quit at 4.8MB. Twenty minutes wasted, and I had to do it all over again. I would love any info on anything that would help me resume a broken connexion.
