Why is there no story history?

I've noticed that the story forum doesn't keep a very long history of threads. Never more than a page or two. However, the Facesitting for Everyone forum has an extremely long history of it's threads. Does any one know why this is?

At the base of the forum is a facility to show all threads till the beginning of time. Only two show, I guess, to save server space.

At the bottom left of the front page of the story forum, there's a box...Hit the drop-down box, and select 'beginning'....Hit 'Show Threads'......All the pages containing all the threads in this forum from the very beginning will come up...
