If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, just go to Tools, and to Internet Options. There will be a tab that says clear history, and click that.

Just humor me. ;)

Edit- Ok, I'll explain myself. Your entire computer runs on Explorer, wether it's internet related or not. That history folder does not hold content exclusive to internet activity. Even when you open a folder, you're still using explorer.

If this somehow doesn't work, try opening Disk Cleanup and deleting the regular temporary files.

If it's just the google searches you want to delete just click,
Tools, Internet options, Content, Autocomplete and click Clear Forms. That will clear it.

If you don't want google to ever remember searches,
uncheck the Forms box.

Forget about Internet Explorer unless you want every dodgy website you visit to take control of your computer. Use Firefox or Opera - It gives you tabbed browsing and a simple way to delete all user data with just a couple of clicks.
