This is a thread to talk about the hockey, you can talk about your favorite team, a specific player, statistic etc.
I have an expactation for the team who gonna win the stanley cup, offcourse my favourite team is Montreal canadians but my expectation go for Ottawa for the stanley cup.

since i grew up watching the Chicago BlackHawks, there isn't much for me to get thrilled about hockey these days :(

Ehhh..i'm not a hockey fan, but I used to love Brian Leetch.
Then he went to Toronto, and now Boston.

Hah, me and undrneath have something else in common, both being Blackhawk fans. I grew up watching Portland Winter Hawks, a farm team for Chicago and my allegience was grabbed. Though a close second is the NY Rangers.
I miss living in Bellingham. We got Hockey Night in Canada there.
Cheers!

RICK NASH!
Once Columbus gets their shit together he's going to win the big one.

I don't have much to cheer about either. I'm a Caps fan. But, did you guys see that play Ovechkin(sp?) made the other night against Phoenix? That was pretty amazing to watch.

I see It!
That play was oustanding! Did you see the face of Wayne Gretzky after the goal lol. This player and Sydney Crosby are spectaculars, but I think Alexander Ovechkin is a little bit better than the other rookie.
I expect the calder for the Russian's player.

how are the Rangers looking this year?

Rangers aren't doing bad spike-me. Their in 2nd place in their division.
I just read a Russian Hockey team tried to force Ovechkin back to Russia to play for them. It went to court, and they basically lost.
Right now Ovechkin is leading in points, but I think Crosby's close behind. Definately natural Goal scorers. They'll both be stars in years to come.

The last time I see the statistics (2 days ago or around)
Ovenchkin, 5 points more than Crosby.
Crosby, 2 games more than Ovenchkin.

Tight race. Ovechin played tonight, I think he had a goal and an assist.

Awesome. Give that team 2 more years, and they'll be back in the race. (i hope) Good to know there's a couple hockey fans on this board. I usually start getting into it more after the SuperBowl.
I'm a huge hockey nut.
Though I can't give it my full attention till after the Super Bowl. :)

I think Ovenchkin need to play with some good player, I didn't know the other players in his line, I didn't check the stats but I don't think they are very good.
Sydney Crosby (his team is bad) but he haves the chance to play with some good veterants like Mark Recchie, Mario Lemieux, "Zigmund Palfy" (something weird happened with that player).
But I think the Caps gonna be back to the race too, they can rebuild a great team around this excellent player.
Ho and Ovenchkin is one step behind Kovalchuck for the Maurice Richard's trophy.

Your right. The caps are rebuilding. I think they've got one of, if not the youngest team in the NHL. They had to unload all they had (Bondra, Gonchar, etc...) because of the money they spent on Jagr did not pay off. Probably the dumbest thing they ever did. Not that Jagr is a bad player, one of the best. Just didn't work in their style of play. Your right, they can build around Ovechkin, and have a good team in the future. Your also right, hey needs a veterin player to play next to. A good passer would be nice.

well my home team didn't go too far this year (Tampa Bay Lightning)
I think everyone in Tampa knew their chances of a successful defense of their Stanley Cup title was over the moment they let Nikolai Khabibulin get away.
Nice topic Invite: just watched the Sabers knock out the Sens tonight - can't believe it, I would have put money on Ottowa winning the cup. I am a rangers fan myself, but we don't need to mention how they did! :(
I would love to see the two California teams play next in the one conference final - Anaheim looks fantastic. And hopefully, Sabres and Canes - Anahiem and Buffalo in the finals - my prediction! Anaheim with the cup.
