View Full Version : Request to international visitor's: TALK ENGLISH !!!!.....terrorists ;)

editor

It is just a friendly request to all international visitor's who come here and visit John's UBB.
It seems a lot are also like me from Europe(Denmark.Finland.Itlay etc) but seem to post frequently in their home-language instead of the common english grammar.
I know ya all are not potential Al Quaida members but i think it would be nicer if one speaks just the common language english i here instead of their home-grown one.
so that we all know what's beeing said and feel more comfortable when knowing that we all share the same fetish.
Or would you all like to hear me writing in Dutch Swahili or Allaaaah akbarrr ;)
This request is ofcourse only to those who post in the facesitting for everybody forum cause John specially made international subsections of this UBB so that one can speak in there in their own laguage.

"Editor":-- I must admit that as a native english speaker I find your post rather arrogant . If you visit the German FS board you will find numerous posts in english and it seems to me the german speakers welcome them. The argument about terrorists possibly using this board to communicate verges on the paranoic!

Personally I think it adds to the board having contributions in different languages now and again... although I dont follow Italian at all I enjoyed getting the gist of the long series of posts in this language which started a week or so back... beside the pics need little translation! --- and if we can't allow the Swedes on this board wish each other Merry Xmas its a poor do!

God Jul och roligt nytt År till alle svensk kille och kanske tjejer!

und unser Deutch freunde ich wunsche Frohe Weinachten und Gutes Neues Jahr !

Feliz Navidad!

You are being intollerant. People can post using whatever language they are comfortable in. English isn't even the most common language on this planet (it is Mandarin).

Besides, your typos and poor use of the english language (demonstrated in your post) suggest that you should brush up on your own skills (especially spelling) instead of expressing your hostility towards others.

Guys! Please!
With all the scary stuff going on in the world right now Christmas is not the time for us to go political! I don't think this board need ever go political.
I myself only speak, read, & write in English. Butt when I come to a thread in another language I just move on to the next one. As AL-UK stated; "The pics need little translation".
This board is a nice place to escape from reality for a little while into the world of fantasy. Let's keep it the nice place it is. :)

Maybe you know - I´m the moderator of the German Facesittingboard.

We have much visitors from other countries too with other languages, mostly english. But it´s no problem for us.

Of course: the mainspeech is german. But I never would write such arrogant message to the visitors like you.

Facesitting is an international fetish without frontiers. Do you really know everybody all over the world can write in english???

Oh man, thats a big mistake.

I think Editor meant the terrorist bit as a joke... he is known for his dry humour...

Happy Christmas all, happy holiday if your faith doesn't support Christmas, happy anything else if either of those don't apply..

I would rather have been reading that in Dutch. Posting a stupid message is bad enough, but trying to defend it with even more stupid quotes is way out of line.

You are not a moderator of this board, so why do you want to tell everybody else how to behave here ?

english IS the most common language on earth, mandarin is second.... the reason is because almost half of all transnational businesses prefer to conduct their affairs in english. there are more people in the orient who speak english then in north america, (stunning as that may sound) and the best i can say is take a trip to japan some time. speaking english is a fashion statement there.

mandarin is a hard language to learn, so few outsiders learn it. english is also hard, but because it has common gorund with almost every language in existence, it's able to be picked up faster.

Do a search on the net, bud. Mandarin - at 2 to one - is more common than english.

English is spoken by only about 8% of the world's population.

It is not even the most widely spoken language in Europe. That would be german.

Mandarin Chinese is spoken by far more people than any other language. Hindi, I believe, is in second place.

English comes third, being rapidly caught up by spanish. It is believed that in less than 100 years there will be more people speaking spanish than english in the U.S.A.

Interesting, isn't it?

So, no linguistic imperialism here, please! People should use the language they feel most comfortable with.

Regards,

Humfur.

Facesitting knows no lanquage, it's language is universal. If Al Quaida members enjoyed a facesitting every day there would be world peace. Our band has a song called "Sitnose" ( you get the idea ) We introduce the song "Sitnose" to the crowd as a game with no losers. Certainly the sitter doesn't lose and the sittee also doesn't lose. It is a game where everyone wins. When people from around the world post pics on this board in whatever language we should all be grateful. I don't believe editor was trying to be arrogant with his post. He was however insensitive and the replies from the Global Facesitting community are justified. All that being said let us move on and enjoy facesitting posts ( especially pics ) in any lanquage. How many of us English speaking people have enjoyed Smelly' s great German Facesitting Board ??

1) I understand editor. He wants to understand what´s going on. But he does not have the right to force other people to speak any particular language. Let´s not get angry about it, it just won´t happen anyway, and the pics will be just as good. Everybody trying to communicate with the board will try to do it in english, and talking with their friends everybody will speak the language they consider appropriate.
2) Of course the terrorist thing was a joke. Hell, you are not funny, editor.
3) The whole topic doesn´t have anything to do with the fact that mandarin chinese is currently no. 1 concerning the number of people that speak it as a first language and english is no. 1 concerning the number of people that speak it more or less, like me. It has to do with tolerance.

p.s.: English does not have anything in common with "almost any language in existence". There´s nothing so special about english, it´s predominance has cultural and economic reasons (like the predominance of french centuries ago). However, it does have far more in common with german, dutch, spanish and french than mandarin.
p.p.s.: itnaya: Do you really believe Al Quaida is the only disturbance of "world peace"? Go inform yourself about the wars currently going on in the world, you´d be pretty surprised. The guys aren´t even involved.

Hi, Think its very okay, and really obvious that we speak English in in this forum, and I am sure the other scandinavians never intended to change that.

When I read their posts, it 's was clearly just a happy little meeting between some of them in an International forum in Christmas time.:)
So I know it would not matter. There is no danger we would try to change the language in here :D
We have after all our own great forum at:

you´re right trail, you put it in much easier words than i did. don´t be unfair to editor, he didn´t really want to harm anybody. he just learned how seriously some people take "freedom of speech" even in this trivial case. (and my tolerance comes to some extent from the fact that i understand german and english fairly well, as well as a bit of french & italian.)

oneforall
12-27-2002, 4:07 PM
@itnaya: you´re probably right. in fact, there would be much less hatred in their world if they got to enjoy anything once a day.

12-27-2002, 4:50 PM
Well.... like someone once put it-
the only thing I dont have any tolerance of is people who lack tolerance.
The theme here is fetischism. The languages are just means of comunication. Rude stiffs who impose themselves when there is no problem, sort of just making their own hatred heard, annoys me.
Just had to say that.

Greetings and blissful sittings :p

bugged a language proffessor of a friend of mine, he pulled a textbook out. i stand corrected, but the fellow claiming it's very low is also wrong. according to 1999 statistics in the textbook, it's the second most common use language.

the person who misquoted me on it's relations:

1. i said almost EVERY, not almost ANY. bit of a diff, but prolly not a big one.

2. english has roots in italian, german, french, russian, latin, greek, spanish (the whole latin connection anyway) polish (still waiting for a reply as to how that one works, i personally don't know any), and several dialects of said languages. beyond that, i don't know. i was however, led to believe there is less then 100 languages in existence (latin is still in use, debate it all you want, but open a science text sometime.) and english is connected to more then any other i am aware of.

please note, i've not called anyone names, nor have i directly attacked any individual. i find is distressing that so many people assault the messenger for the message, right or wrong it may be. i also state i made a few mistakes. this was based on out of date information and american textbooks. (not a slur, just alot of U.S. publishers copy from older books over and over.)

Humfur

There are actually around 5000 languages still in existence today, although most of these are spoken by extreme minorities, of course.

hey...i know this post is long gone and dead..i just wanted to get one point in...english is NOT by far the most spoken international language, and america is by far not the center of the world you ethnocentric fool...in terms of most spoken language, billions more people speak many other languages primarily other than english..get that straight.

oneforall
12-28-2002, 11:28 AM
long gone and dead, indeed.
sorry to rennoch if i´m the one you are talking about. i totally agree with your last paragraph.
almost every/almost any? now that difference is new to me. perhaps we should go on in german :D just kidding.
and the "english amazingly connected to more languages than [insert your favourite language here]" thing just isn´t true. but let´s not get too scientific in here. i could but had to pull out a dictionary... it doesn´t have any relevance to the forum, anyway... it´s just yes, there are similarities between all of the languages you pointed out (i´m not sure about russian though), because they have the same "root language" or however you call it in english... and form a "language family". mandarin, clearly, doesn´t belong to that nice little club. and for historical reasons (europeans colonizing and/or enslaving the world) nice-little-club-languages are spoken almost all over the world (indoeuropean languages is the term, i think). but that doesn´t make them cooler languages...
now i´m the one to make a fool of himself  why do i write all this? what did i come here to do? let´s STOP THIS and let linguistics DIE FOREVER (in this forum). let´s get trampled again, folks.
