I think, that due to the recent discussion about freeloading and restricting users who don't post or comment, a massive volume of users have begun posting, commenting, and browsing more often (to avoid being restricted)...causing a lot of traffic on your server...

now I know something about computers but not a great deal about servers or how your server is set up...how about categorizing the types of pictures...dividing them so that everyone isn't viewing all of the same thumbnails at once, people can view their preference of pics at different times...would this help at all...daddos old board on the college-trample server used to have them divided by section (you could do adult, non-adult, jeans, full weight, etc.) I don't know how many categories you can divide facesitting into, but hey at least we're not all trying to view the same 50 thumbnails at the same time right?

of course, I might just be stupid and this won't do anything...honestly I have no idea...my 2 cents..

(what are your server specs, maybe i could build you a "beefier" one :D are you running dual processor?)

Hey Snoop....no, that's not the problem...wish it was!
This has been going on for awhile...

I have considered a couple image manipulations to decrease load, but I'm not convinced they will work...if the removal of really old images from the db doesn't work, I will try those....basically, just less pics per posts in order to try and keep very high levels of images loading at one time to a minimum...same amount of pics, just spread across more posts...

This server is a dual 1.3 Ghz with 6 gigs of RAM...it smokes. If it was on anything less it would just die altogether...
