Kind of have to be to make through, Unlike restiff, my confidence level is not always real high. I do ok though. I do have a weak spot with women and sometimes that gets me into some binds where I have to take a couple steps in the wrong direction before I go forward again.

Also, thank you for sharing some of yourself with us. I have not heard of the Cham people. Does that mean that you are not linguistically related to the Khmer people? What part of Cambodia do the Cham live in? How did the Cham make out under the Pol Pot's regime?

Hi, Restif -- thanks, I'm OK, in no small part due to a converted RV generator we originally purchased for Y2K! Luckily portable generators are common here, and now you all know why ...

The Chams (from the former Hindu Kingdom of Champa) are not related to the Khmers at all, but rather are physically and linguistically related to the Malays (Indonesians, Malaysians, and Filipinos). Most lived in southern Vietnam, but many were persecuted after the war and migrated into SE Cambodia and S Laos.

We fared very badly under Pol Pot, who hated non-Khmer ethnic minorities, and I personally grew up in a refugee camp in Thailand. I am active in helping returned survivors (or their descendants) in eastern Cambodia through teaching and translating -- for example, I translate technical manuals from English into Cham, which sometimes requires coining new words ... it's difficult but rewarding for me.

(Sorry for taking this thread off-topic, but on the bright side, it will keep adding to the record size and views ...)

Guys, don't be silly. This is our post. Just because I started it, does not mean I have to finish it. Anybody is more than welcome to have conversations on this thread. Especially you, Mistress Valerie and Restiff. I tried to post this many times before but alas, it's not working. I'd have so many more pics by now. Not sure if its going to work this time either. Help......... :( I think after Christmas I'm buying a new computer. I hope, but I'm not so sure thats the problem. I'm in the middle of refinancing my home. Sorry guys, gotta close this thread down....it's one of the ones that is causing problems with forum slowness....and it's not helping the thread itself much either....look at all the attachment problems it has with broken thumbnails!

Just start new threads, keeping pics on any one screen to 15 or so...
