Dear John,
I'm well aware t hat anything worth having is worth waiting for, but I am asking you if there is anything you can do to speed up the download of yoursite. It has got progressively slower over the last few months and is now almost terminally slow. My modem is a 56000 external and the speed of other sites is pretty good given that we have yet to get broadband in our area thanks to out pathetic British Telecom management. That said, I am not exaggerating when I say that you site took nearly five minutes to get to the FS forum section, and dowlnloading the pics is frankly pathetic. Can anything be done, because I hope that when you eventually get your pay site up and running things will speed up again. Your thoughts would be appreciated and also anything you can do to fix this problem.
Sincerely,
Muffdog:mad:

Hi Muffdog,
Suspect there is something amiss with your browser settings, ISP or something. I log in regularly from UK and I've never had more than a few seconds delay. Mind its possible I dont log in at US peak times -- although its instant this morning while u were posting. I'm on 128K cable.

Cheers Al

I suspect it's the route your ISP is taking to the server, muffdog....I can see the traffic graphs from all lines coming in and this server is sustaining 9 m/bps with no problem...also, multiple pings from all over show no delays from the major connections...

Sorry, there's no problem on this end... :(

I had problems with slow speed a while back and because
the computer had the DNS Enabled (in Network Neighborhood)
it was taking a long time looking for the DNS server before it
would search the internet.

Hi John and Al UK
And all the rest who replied to my problem with speed. Thanks guys, its seems to be somethng am going to have to live with until BT get off their fat cat backsides and get Broadband to us out here in the sticks of Norfolk. Todays is a good day - it only took five minutes instead of the usual ten - things are looking up!!
Cheers,
Muffdog

Don't suppose NTL has got to norfolk either?. Must admit Ive been on NTL broadband (128K -£15 pcm) for a couple of months and its seems really good- so good that I havn't felt the need to upgrade to 500K (£10 pcm extra). Ive got a few mates on broadband BT and they don't seem too happy with it...

I used to be on a really slow line a year or so back & one trick I used was to disable the pictures within my browser so all you would get is white squares with red crosses instead of animations of gorgeous destiny facesitting John & her mates-- might not look as pretty but it might just speed up your text speed.

By the way as you are from Norfolk area- do you know if the Women's International sports club (WISC) still active - it used to be based in Norfolk I think & have live events. Last time I checked out website most of action seemed to have moved to florida. They had some fine facesitters in their day!

Cheers Al
