View Full Version : Help! Why all the "untitled.bmp" images?

I'm finding now that most of the images I download from the board are "untitled.bmp".

This would include the second set of Taylor St.Clair in the recent thread and Editor's stunning last pic on page three of his thread (you can find it amongst all the slanging!).

I can't understand why suddenly nearly all the images are downloading as these bmp's - surely most of us would be uploading jpg's?

Now Editor offered me some advice from within his thread but I still haven't sussed it (Thanks anyway Editor).

A few days ago I went into Windows Media Player and selected it to download all file types because I can't seem to have much luck with the Real Player (after all the time downloading mpeg's etc to a temporary folder it tells me there's a problem. I just gave up with it.)

Now I'm getting all pics in bmp and no jpg's. Is there a link here? After all, jpg is not a movie type so I can't see any connection.

Anybody got a clue? Would appreciate any advice.

I had this problem too. I'm assuming you have Internet Explorer and Windows operating system. Here are the steps that solved the problem for me.

1. Go to Control Panel, Internet Options. Delete your temporary internet files.
2. In Internet Options, under the General tab, in the Temporary Internet files section, click "Settings." Then click, "View Objects." You will then see a list of files. Anything under the status tab that says "unknown" or "damaged" needs to be removed. Right-click the file or files to be removed and select "remove."
3. Restart your computer.

The problem should be fixed. Let me know if it works for you.

This is a known problem with IE. The solution is deleting the cache: Start IE - Extras - Internet options - delete files. Sorry, i have only an IE in german. Maybe the phrases are different.

BlackSwirl, Eric2000 and Yosi - thanks very much guys. Your advice was spot on.
Gee, it seemed to take so long deleting the temporary files - maybe I had too many of them. I guess I never worried about them before.
Anyway, I went back and re-downloaded a pic of Taylor St.Claire which had been a bmp file earlier and now it's a jpg.

Thanks again gentlemen!

I need some real help guys.
When ever I try to save any pic off the net, when I go to save it I get a "bmp" or an "Art" thing in the save type box but I guess usually a lot of these pictures are "BMP" but when ever I try to save pictures now I don't get the picture all I get is an icon of some sort, and I'll click the icon and the picture will say "no preview available ? What the hell is wrong with my shit? I've done what you guys have said with the temp files but it didn't seem to work.
Please help cuz I'm missing all the fun of saving these pics.

thEnd,

why dont you get yourself the ACDSee powerpack and it will handle all the pics you save as it integrates it into the shell.

www.acdsystems.com

so no problems with IE or anything that prevents you from saving them.

You even have a choice to convert those large bmp files to jpg files to minimise space. later u can covert them to bmp if you need the pics as wall paper.

:D just my 3 cents
