file size limit

when i go to upload a file it says it can be 1.5 megs.... is that the maximum for the whole post.. or for each file u post inna thread?
i kept trying to upload a 900k .zip file but after it looked like it was done it didnt appear in the upload box.

It should be for the post....I've seen others uploading movie files that large?
