View Full Version : In reply to a question about alt.com
A poster on the facesitting board inquired about the online introduction service alt.com. After I wrote a reply to him, it occured to me that other people on this board might find this information helpful as well. Here is my reply to him:
I am currently a member of alt.com, and I can tell you it's a TERRIBLE service. The company lies about the number of members it has, especially female members. MANY of the profiles are duplicated two, three or even four times, and they count each duplicate as a separate profile!! Also, MANY of the women on the site are professional Mistresses or prostitutes. Some are upfront about it and tell you to reply only if you're "generous." Many are deceptive, though, and will ask you for money only after they've wasted a lot of your time in email exchanges and online chats. The site has LOTS of technical problems and almost never works properly. Frequently, your emails are never delivered. You may contact people and think they are not interested when you receive no reply, but if you follow up with them you find out they never received your first email. The worst technical problem is that the download time is often so long that the site really cannot be used at all. This is particularly true at the times you'll most want to use the site - evenings and weelends. Also, the site is full of spammers pretending to be women. When you contact them, they respond by asking for a personal email address. If you provide it, you will be placed on every porn spam list that exists! In addition, their customer service department is worse than you can possibly imagine. If you write with a complaint about the technical problems with the site, the customer service reps often respond with PRE-WRITTEN messages, and they DO NOT deliver your complaint to the site's programmers!! I strongly urge people to stay away from alt.com!!!

I read your post regarding alt.com and I thought that they should know about it. Bad customer service is just plain BAD and they obviously have some issues to work on. I think that many people get disgusted with a site and then give up on it. Alt.com had asked me to join their affiliate program so I've been in communication with them recently. I turned down their proposal, but I took the liberty of copying your text and sending it to the rep I had been dealing with. Hopefully she can get your issues to someone who CAN do something.

ADD ME TO THAT LIST
VQ (Hi you angel hope things are starting to shine again love you)
robxx : Just letting you both know you can add me to the list of unsatisfied and totally pissed off customers.
Like many others I was enticed into joining a while back based on their data base of people into my scene in my area of Australia. In particular they said that they had a group of dominant women who had a dungeon where they were training to be Doms and really wanted slaves (particularly experienced ones) in the Brisbane (Caboolture) area. There several other similar listings and it looked really great even had pics (probably for the same group if they existed). I sent over 40 emails to them and even put that if they were not interested in me to at least acknowledge that they received the email. NOTHING!!! This happened with other women and groups I contacted as well. I wrote to alt.com and put it too them that the emails were not going through....the site had an area to indicate that you had successfully contacted someone but this never changed from "you have not contacted this person/group". I paid for silver membership put on my photos etc. Not one ounce of feedback. I finally bumped into someone from the scene in the area they said the group existed and she said she had never heard of such group. I too kept getting standard pre-fab response.
Not one email I sent was ever responded to and I thought they were good emails...perhaps my photos were too ugly and my terrible looks frightened everyone off....
They kept trying to get me to go to gold membership...what more money to be ripped off even more expensively???....If they were based here in Australia I would personally be handing the problem over to the Department of Fair Trading to investigate. It gives pay sites a paid name and everyone should be concerned about that. It is particularly nasty because it is a site dealing with people who are genuinely lonely and seeking company (as I was back then and it depressed me more feeling like all my attempts to contact people were ignored) but even now I have Helen in my life it would be a nice way to meet like minded folks but I would not touch them with a ten foot pole they should be closed down now.

You can add another to that list. I was enticed to join by a freind of mine who just happens to be a mistress herself.....although she was only just trying to help me find what I was looking for & not affiliated with alt.com.
I became a paying member thinking I was going to meet like minded people. All I really got was total frustrastion......not one email I sent was answered & I got no feedback from my e-mails to staff as well. I for one am glad to read others frustrations as well with this site as it makes one feel a little more comfortable in knowing it wasn't just me.

I joined because the scene is so sparse around here, even though it is a beautiful resort area. Thinking that there must be SOME like-minded folks close by I joined up. Nothing disparging, Vinyl Queen, but I first got wind of their site from an advertisement on Your site. Everything said so far is true..No responses..constant spamming to upgrade membership..etc..etc.. Delete this site!

I must echo everyone else's sentiments regarding alt.com.
It sucks!

My sentiments exactly...men are treated as cash cattle, and i got the feeling that many of the profiles on the system were creations of the site's imagination :(

Adult Friend Finder and alt.com are the same company. I believe Adult Friend Finder is the name of the parent company. They own a number of matchmaking sites like alt.com I would stay away from all of them!

I guess I must be the only one with anything positive to say about alt.com :)
I will say that I have not only met a most wonderful person whom I've shared my life for the past 2 1/2 years, I've also made some lasting and quality friendship with likeminded people. And I'm not speaking of the players who log onto the chat room to deceive and play, rather real people with real issues whom I first got to know online and later, met in r/t throughout my travels.
I met a rather large group of altonians (LOL) during a visit to London in 2001. They gather each month at the London Fet Fair and from there they go and have lunch together and basically chat and get to know each other...many have become close friends and I'm happy to have met them. I still have contact with many of them after all this time. Same goes for several people here in the states with whom I've met for dinner, drinks and basically put a face behind the posts so to speak.
Not everyone is happy with alt.com's service, that I am certain of. But, for a handful of people like myself, its been a way to meet and establish friendships with people who are also into the alternative lifestyle. I wil never regret joining them but I sympathize with those who haven't met with any success.
This is my first post and actually, I'm rather shy about sharing my opinions but, thought I'd share a positive one. :)
Be well A/all

I told alt.com about the comments being made here. As usual, I received no response.
