This happened to a friend of mine, but to make it more interesting I'll tell it in his words.
" I work as a guide in a glow worm grotto. Because of the glow worms we use night vision goggles as guides, we don't allow torches. The tourists have a hand rail to hold onto and if we needed to we had a filtered torch we could guide them with.
One night I was guiding a German woman and her ten year old daughter, and a Uk guy. The german woman was wearing hiking boots with heavy treads, and the girl was wearing blue converse type sneakers.
We'd just walked up some steps and I was directing my green filtered torch behind me as I went, I turned to look back to see the guy had fallen somehow at the top of the steps. The glow from my torch was just enough to show the german woman there was something on the ground, but not what. He was lying at a sort of an angle across the path on his stomach. She placed her left foot on his ass, and then stepped foward onto his back before walking on over him onto the ground. Her daughter almost tripped over his legs but held onto the hand rail and stepped on the back of his legs. She then walked right up his back with two or three steps, her last step actually came down on the side of his head but slipped off and ended up beside his face. As they continued on I went back and helped the guy to his feet. The two others apparently didn't even realise they had walked over him, though they must have felt the body underfoot, maybe they thought it was undergrowth or something.
The guy was unhurt, and just laughed about it."

After he told me this I often thought about going on one of his trips and setting myself up as an obstacle. But I never did.

It's so tempting to put yourself in heaven's path. Especially when vision is not great, like at night or in crowds, and the ground is naturally uneven. One thing that keeps me from sticking my hands and feet underfoot is the fear that I might cause someone to trip and hurt themselves. But in a dark cave, where everyone's wearing hiking boots and holding onto hand rails? I don't think I could resist the temptation.

What the hell is a glow worm grotto, & how do you get a job as a guide in one?
Did anyone at school, when the teacher asked what you wanted to do when you grew up, say "I want to be a guide in a glow worm grotto."
"Johnny, go & stand in the corner & don't be stupid."
"But Miss, really...."
"In the corner now, & don't come out until you want to be a train driver!"

I'll get my coat.

A glow worm grotto is a grotto where glow worms hang out!!!
And Glow worm grotto guides are wannabe train drivers who have to spend some time as a grotto guide so they can get used to driving trains into dark railway tunnels.
